It’s the second quarter already and now we’re doing our WebQuests again! Prepare for some interesting things as well as some gross, yucky, stomach-turning videos!!!

Introduction

“Everything is connected to everything else.” In this WebQuest, we will learn more about how some animals are related to other animals as we visit different websites and watch some videos.

Task

This lesson is mostly just a review of your Grade 5 lessons. Please review your notes before proceeding. Try to remember the smiley symbols as a guide in understanding each relationship.

Process

The steps for this WebQuest will be divided according to community relationship. Visit and learn more about that type of community relationship by studying examples.

  5. Watch a hippopotamus getting royal treatment from cleaning carp.
  6. Learn how ants and trees “rub each others’ backs”.
  7. Watch a video showing how a goby works with a shrimp.
  8. Learn more examples of mutualism by reading this.

For the brave… (These videos may be gross so DO NOT read or watch these before or while eating.)

For the really, really brave…

  • Search for “worms” in YouTube. Please ask your parents for guidance. Please eat your meals or snacks before doing this. After watching the videos, you might not be able to eat for a while.
